Egg-cellent Easter….

Easter was so fun this year celebrating it with 2 of my favorite little people – my grandchildren- Drew and Callie. We started the weekend off decorating eggs – naturally – Erica made the dyes out of red cabbage, rose petals, chili powder and spinach – prettiest  eggs I have ever seen! Drew caught right on to the process and loved watching them change colors before his eyes- He kept saying “I doing it Mom” so darling!

Loved sharing egg dyeing with these two!
Easter Sunday started off very calm and wonderful – ended with Hail the size of ping pong balls or Easter eggs!  But we got our Easter fun over before that hit Big A and taking shelter!
Church was wonderful as usual and loved sitting with my family –what a rich, wonderful heritage our parents gave us and gave each of us the Love of God – so thankful for that.
Lunch at my house this year and fun times together eating and visiting.april 049

Then it was time for the BIG HUNT –  Drew really got into finding all the eggs .

april 067      Stood up to get a better look at all the eggs – isn’t she just the cutest thing?

He Lives…

I serve a risen Savior, He’s in the world today
I know that He is living, whatever men may say:
I see His hand of mercy, I hear His voice of cheer
And just the time I need Him He’s always near.
He lives, He lives, Christ Jesus lives today!
He walks with me and talks with me along life’s narrow way.
He lives, He lives salvation to impart!
You ask me how I know He lives?
He lives within my heart.
Have a Blessed Easter –
Christ is Risen – He is Risen indeed!

My Fathers World…

Does a song ever come to your mind when you are doing a every day chore? I pretty much have a song for every occasion in my life – like a musical constantly playing in my mind – funny huh? I guess I grew up with watching every musical made. I have discovered that life is not a musical with happy endings and life always making you want to dance, but still I have a song in my heart and live in my little happy world – and I am happy there and so is every one else. A girl can pretend right?

When I am in my garden it is pretty much my happiest place on earth. I am constantly reminded how amazing My God is and I love to watch the miracles he creates. The song I am constantly singing in my mind and sometimes out loud is” This is my Fathers World” a good ole Baptist hymn I grew up with.

My daughter in law Erica has changed the way she views our world and the way we eat and  where our food comes from. She has started a blog  A Heart of Grun it is a blog about her journey into living organically – going Green!Check it out- I have learned so much and changed many of my habits.

It has got me thinking a lot about how we treat our Fathers World and what we are doing to it. We are stewards of his world – are we treating it with like the miracle it is? Are we caring  for it like he cares for us? Are we leaving it to our grandchildren like our grandparents left it to us?

I think NOT!

I have changed the way I treat our world – I want Drew and Callie to live a healthful and abundant life in this beautiful world that God made us. I am now using  NO chemicals in my garden – only organic ways to garden and it is FUN! I will be sharing some of the tricks I have found – you might laugh but it WORKS and I am saving Gods World in doing it.

A cast of characters…

My sister, sister in law and myself  have come up with some really fun names for ourselves with our “greats”. Our kids did not call us “Aunt” and we kinda missed that- so we decided that our little greats will call us a special name – a bit on the funny side-I might add.

Aunt B- Brenda200px-First_Episode_Aunt_Bee_10101 DSC05270 One of our favorite TV shows growing up – I can still hear my dad laugh at Barney Fife!

Aunt Rosie-Roseann

index We wore Rosie the riveter shirts as we walked for the cure in Dallas in honor of Roseann a breast cancer survivor – so it is only fitting she would be our Rosie!DSC02388

I love the Wizard of Oz and could watch it over and over so I wanted to be Aunty M – Aunty M!

I know we are a little nuts – but hey you gotta have a little fun being a Great Aunt!

And we now have 3 little ones starting the next generation!

Precious Memories….

Last week in the FBC Abilene weekly First Words there was a tiny little ad for a State Senior Citizen Choir Festival to be held at our Church - and by the way Cynthia Clawson would be presenting a concert on Thursday Night! I was so excited and set out to find someone to go with me to hear her - NO ONE KNEW WHO SHE WAS! I thought to myself "Where did you grow up and what rock have you been under?" So off to the concert I went, all by myself - I did not care I loved hearing every note and every word. She said that next week her and her husband  Ragan Courtney would be traveling to Nashville to perform the Musical "Celebrate LifeCynthia_Clawson" it is the 40th anniversary of it being written. I sat there and could NOT believe it had been that long! Where had the days gone- wasn't it just yesterday we sang that at Glorietta? If you are in the Nashville area go to FBC Nashville and hear it and you even get to sing along - How fun that would be to sing it again. I thought of all of you last night - she opened the concert with Precious memories - tears were in my eyes for sure as I remembered all the precious memories of our days as Youth of FBC Abilene

Blooming right outside my window…

One of the most tragic things I know about human nature is that all of us tend to put off living. We are all dreaming of some magical rose garden over the horizon - instead of enjoying the roses blooming outside our windows today.
Dale Carnegie

I have never been sent too many flowers in my 50+ years but  before you start to feel sorry for me – DON’T! I have always found much more happiness in growing my own flower bouquets. That way I can have non stop flowers in my home all spring, summer and fall. Mine never die and I get a great sense of accomplishment in knowing they came from my hard work in my garden and caring for them year after year. This week my roses have been welcoming Spring and one day alone I cut 15 gorgeous Hot pink roses. I have them all over my bedroom and love the smell of them! Who needs a florist when you have God giving you the prettiest Bouquets on the Block! I hope you enjoy them as much as I have this week.

Opening day for the Little Red Devils…..

Oh what a fun night Friday was watching our little red devil – he really is an ANGEL! I have NEVER seen a baseball game so cute – and I have seen just a few being the mom of 2 boys and nephews, some weeks there would be 2 games a night every night except Sunday. My boys did not play at 2 1/2 years old but Drew is playing and doing amazing! He hits the ball, runs and kicks the dirt really well!He even ran to the fence to get high fives from all of us when he ran into home. He had the largest group of fans there for sure – Great Grandparents Yarger, Uncle Ben, Danny & Roseann, Megan, his mom Erica and 2 of his biggest fans Callie and Me(Grammy) We had quite a cheering section! Josh played on the field with him and kept him on track watching the plays of the game. I can’t wait till Tuesday to go cheer again for my little Red Devil.

My kind of baseball game – no umpires, no scores,no outs, everyone gets to bat and try to field the ball and the Dads play along – a perfect baseball game! I can not wait to watch Drew play ball for the next say 20 years – maybe he will play for the Rangers someday –A Grammy can dream!
In the meantime “ Lets play ball”
