BOO TO YOU....

LOOK WHO IS GOING TRICK OR TREATING....

HOPE YOU GET LOT OF TREATS!

Sewing a Barrell of Fun....

This past weekend I decided I wanted a table cloth in my bedroom. I love this fabric but only could buy a remnant of it. I had seen this type of cloth in a magazine or on a blog - I am not sure where - but I loved it. Something new and different than the ones I had made forever! It is basically - 1 circle (the size of your table top) 1 strip of fabric the length you want your cloth 1 ruffle( I used my wonderful ruffler from Bernina) and you have a cute , sassy cloth!

I think it looks a little French - don't you?

PS: I got the fabric at Interior Alternatives in Dallas -one of my favorite stomping grounds!

Hook em Horns....

I have a confession!

1. I watch football sometimes....

2.I am a University of Texas fan - Hook em Horns-don't tell -shhhhhhh
I have to confess that I love watching and pulling for UT these days. You must also know that I have a brother who is known as Mr. A&M Aggie in our town and my brother-in-law is also a Aggie. I can't help myself and I have confessed to them both and have been forgiven as long as I don't yell for them on Thanksgiving when THE big game is. I have my reasons I pull for the longhorns these days.
The coach's NAME is Mack Brown. That was my Dads name. He has to be a wonderful Man since his name is the same as Dads -right?

I also love to pull for 2 home town guys - Colt McCoy and Jordan Shipley. Jordan went to the same elementary school as our kids and was my nephews (Wyatts) friend in 2nd grade - they played soccer together. Colt is from a tiny town south of here and went to a small school. Some of his classes at UT probably are bigger than his High school. I love the story of how they grew up together and are now playing football together and doing wonderful! I like watching sports if I know the story about the players or have a connection with them- then I am a big time fan!!!
Well it is official Texas is Better than Oklahoma because we have beat them both!! ( sorry Katy)but next week UT takes on Texas Tech and that team has 2 former Abilene Eagles on the team. I will just have to yell for all the hometown guys!
OK I better get back to my sewing and decorating and leave the sports commentary to some one else! Until next time

Tie one on...Aprons

I have had a long admiration for aprons. The memories they bring back and the fun had in them!I still own the apron my mother made me when I was a little girl -Christmas aprons-she made us all matching ones. I cherish my apron as does my sister. Come to find out children aprons usually don't last or they get lost through the years. Aprons take us back to the memories of the women in our lives who wore them. I always picture my MaMa(my grandmother) in a apron. She wore one all the time - in the kitchen, garden always. The TV shows of my childhood always showed mothers with aprons on. These are my memories of aprons - all special and the people who wore them.My love of aprons has somehow spread to my nieces - they too love aprons. They are so cute now! I gave Anna and Sarah these for their birthday.

One of the most amazing thing happened to me a couple of weeks ago. My friend Jana works at the Grace Museum and she called me at work to say "The apron lady" -Ellynanne was coming to Hancocks and she wanted me to meet her. I had heard that the Grace was having a apron exhibit but I had NO idea who it was we were going to see. I met her and we talked and talked and I felt like I had met another Kindred spirit. She gave me her card and told me to visit her site. About a hour later I finally had time to pull up her web site when I realized she was the author of a Apron book I had picked up and looked at 1000 times - always wanting to buy one for myself and Sarah(who use to collect aprons). I never let myself buy it. I was soooo mad I didn't realize who she was when I was visiting with her. But sometimes that is better because you get to know the real person. I emailed Jana right away to tell her Thanks for giving me the opportunity to meet her and how I loved her book and wish I had one for her to sign. In about 10 minutes I looked up and there was Jana handing me a signed book ! It was one of those fun times in your life that just happens - I love that.

I can not wait to visit the exhibit - but I must have alot of time to read every story about each apron and its maker. One of the greatest event that Ellyanne told me about and talks about it on her site is the"Tie one on day" The jest of the day is, you make a apron and wrap it around something you bake and take to someone in need or someone who means alot to you. I love the idea! You are suppose to deliver it before Thanksgiving -perfect time to share!

Don't miss the exhibit and get out your aprons and
TIE ONE ON!

Counting my Blessings.....

All last weekend I just had this overwhelming full heart of thankfulness. I was counting my blessings with every breath. My family is THE most important thing in my life and I love it when we are all together. We have lost some of our family but their presence is still felt whenever we are together. If our family has a family song I guess it would be"Sweet Sweet Spirit" My brother, sister and I sang this as teens in our church and for a time it was the theme of our church- it has remained a very sweet song to us all. It was sung at our parents funerals and it was played as Brenda was sited at the wedding last Saturday. It always brings us together and reminds us of the sweet spirit around us when we are together. As I look at our children and how they have grown up it is such a blessing to be a part of their lives. I am truly blessed......
