Peaceful White....

When I think of white I think of peace, maybe because my favorite white, is snow-so peaceful. I always feel very calm when I see white. I know it is hard for you to believe that someone like me who loves color would like -white. This week I am praying for peace and I have faith that it is just around the corner ......

Beach or Bust....

Lets go on vacation is a brain child of mommyholly. I can't wait to see where everyone goes.... But for me - I dream of Destin...The sound of waves.....

If only I could sit in that beach chair...

For the last 2 years my family all 16 -20 of us have gone to Destin, Florida for a week of togetherness, Laying in the sun, playing in the sand, riding bicylces, taking early morning walks on the beach, eating the greatest food around - cooked by us, and watching the waves hit the shore on the prettiest beach in the world! This year we do not get to go with the coming of baby ya-ya and a wedding to plan we are not making our annual trip. So today I am thinking of sitting on that beach listening to the waves coming in while reading a great book. Hope you enjoy and I HIGHLY recommend the trip to anyone.

# 50 and so much to say.....

This is my 50th blog entry so a little anniversary of sorts. When I started this blog it was by pure curiosity of how this world worked. What I found was a very creative way to share my life in thoughts and pictures - a little scrap of my life. I started thinking how would I ever come up with something to write or share. Now I think how will I share it all? It has made me look at life alot differently - looking forward to events so I can write about them, Looking at pretty things in my house to take pictures of , Sharing my thoughts and insights to this crazy world, simply sharing myself and giving ya'll a little look in my soul. What I have found that I love about this blog world is the friendship that have been made through sharing with others. I have been able to keep up with friends all around me and friends far off that I don't even know. I was thinking one day about getting to heaven and meeting some of these blog friends that I will never meet on this earth but will definitely meet in Heaven one day. I love keeping up with my kids friends and seeing how they have grown up and become parents. Seeing their children grow. Every time I sit down to read blogs I feel like I have had a wonderful visit with a dear friend. Someone said once that blogs are the Pen Pal letters of old. How true- it is our way of making new friends but keeping up with the old golden ones.

So here's to many more blogs in my heart to share with each of you my friends...

Deep in the Heart of Texas....

Wyatt loading up on good food -finally.

Will and Colby -two of the cooks

Whew...what a weekend! Our family welcomed home Wyatt from Afghanistan this weekend. He got back to the states 2 weeks ago-but back to Big A this weekend. We ALL got together to welcome him back to Texas. It was a great weekend of visiting, watching videos and looking at pictures and of course Eating.

Each year my nephew Will and friends put on a real life-Cowboy cookoff. I have never seen so much grillin and meat in one place in my life! We had goat, brisket, venison and of course the roasted pig. These young men and a few older ones do know how to cook. It is just how I picture being on a wagon train and eating on the chuck wagon in the old West. The funny thing is none of these guys are cowboys in real life. They are lawyers, graduate students, Realtors and so forth. It is a fun escape for these guys and they have one thing in common-they love to grill. Its great eating, visiting and listening to good ole Texas music and Country living.

I Love the 40s color of green often called THAT GREEN....

I Love Robin Egg Blue and Black....

If I had to choose my favorite? I would have to say RED!
That is why I love my kitchen so much.

So you could say I live in a very Colorful world.....
But that's OK I am very happy there!

THE Dress...

There are many dresses in a girls life -one must have a dress for every special occasion- baby dedication, first day of school,Ballet recital, Easter dress ,Prom dress, sorority dresses and the list goes on. But THE most important dress is THE Wedding Dress. I spent the last 2 days on a search for THE dress. As you know my oldest niece Sarah is getting married in October. So off the girls in our family went to find THE dress.Being the sure minded and know what I want girl Sarah had made a design board of dresses she liked and wanted to see in person and try on. There was one that really caught her fancy and wanted to find it most of all. We looked the first day and felt like we were getting no where fast. Feeling a little down the second day off we went saying little prayers all the way, to find a store named -LuLu's.I think from the first moment of walking in the door we all felt at home, could be because it was in a wonderful old cottage in down town Dallas(of all places).Once again we started the search. No lace, No organza, No sparkles, No sleeves, No poofs - all she wanted was a simply wonderful, beautiful dress that made her feel like a gorgeous Bride. The second dress she tried on was a dress that looked very familiar to her but she was not sure. We could hear her excitement as she got into her dress and as she walked out -I knew this was THE dress -and yes it was on her design board and was her favorite.Sarah had found THE dress of her dreams. WE ALL got goose bumps and yes a few tears came to the baby blues. I had seen this little girl in a lot of dresses in her life but NEVER this beautiful of one. I was a proud Aunt, I could not look at sister Brenda because I knew we would loose it. We all just kinda soaked it in a while and then we squealed because Sarah had found THE dress to marry the love of her life. The ladies of the store did the cutest thing as we were getting ready to leave -they played the Wedding march and blew bubbles all over her- smiles were all around and I do believe I had never seen Sarah look so happy and a little relieved...Dreaming of the day in October when she gets to walk down the Aisle in her simply wonderful dress and marry her Major Joe. You will just have to wait till then to see her in THE dress.

Sewing for baby Ya Ya...

I have been doing a little sewing for the baby. I covered the bassinett and repainted it. Josh slept in this basinett when he was a baby - and now his baby will use it. I bought it at a second hand store in Germany where Josh was born. I just love it and the memories that go with it. May it cradle our baby with sweet dreams. I have made several flannel blankets ( I guess I think it might get cold) and of course some burp cloths. I have had a great time sewing and thinking about the little one coming to our family. I got to feel it kicking inside Erica last weekend - what joy this Grandma felt.
