5 weeks and counting....

In just 5 weeks our little bundle of joy will be here. I wanted to show you the darling room that Josh and Erica have put together for their baby. It is hard to imagine a real live baby in here - I am feeling a little overwhelmed by it all. I have never met 2 parents more ready for this child than they are. I have learned alot about having a baby from them - I just wonder how I ever had 2 myself? The drawers are full, the car seats are in the cars, the diapers are waiting, and the burp cloths ready to be spit upon! All we need now is baby yaya!

I have to brag - Josh painted this room and put all the furniture together himself. Erica planned every detail .They bought all the furniture at a darling new store in Big A called Kids Village. I highly recommend it to expectant parents - they are awesome!!! The little sign hanging on the dresser says" Party at 2:00 - BYOB"(Bring your own bottle) that was from Aunty Erin. Love the room - now just waiting.......

This past weekend was like a mini vacation for this girl! On Friday my sis - Brenda and I headed off to Ft Worth to take care of some wedding things for Sarahs wedding in October. We spent 4 hours in Garden Ridge planning center pieces. We got soooo excited with what we came up with and got the go ahead from Bride Sarah later in the evening. We picked out cakes and even had a cake tasting. For Sarah 1 cake is not good enough she will have 5 or 6 kinds -VERY Delicious too!!! With Brenda being a Homemaking teacher and our late Mom the cake baker extraordinaire - it is only natural for having the best tasting cakes in Texas - couldn't be any other way! We tasted 7 different kinds and picked 4 flavors plus Joes cake. The guest are in for a treat tasting the cakes alone! What fun planning a wedding it is truly one of the happiest events in a couples life- the other - having a Baby!
Saturday was THE big BABY shower for mommy Erica. It was so fun seeing all the wonderful baby things friends and family gave to the wonderful parents to be. I do believe they are ready for baby ya-ya to come in 5 weeks. All the girls from both families were there and many friends. The food was wonderful and the visiting was a joy. One of the favorites was the petits fours or pedophiles - Heehee!! We have decided to change the name of 2nd cousins to the grand cousins- we think that sounds more important and with all the cousins this baby will have they are truly all GRAND!
If that was not enough for the old gals - the kids talked us into staying another night and going to the late showing of "MAMMA MIA" It was GREAT- GREAT! So off to Southlake we went for dinner at the Cheesecake factory and then to the movie. If you like old musicals you will love this movie. I wanted to sing and dance with them just as I did with Judy Garland, Fred Astaire or Debbie Reynolds. I came home and immediately bought the sound track.

On Sunday the girls wanted to go back to Garden Ridge - Hard to believe after all the years of begging not to go to a place like that!!! We ask them if they would rather go to the mall - heck no - off to look for things for their homes! I never would have believed that would ever happen!

The weekend was so much fun being with Josh and Erica and all the nieces and nephews. It was our mini vacation since we didn't get to go to Destin. After all what makes a vacation fun is the people you spend it with.....

Let's Create.....

This past week I have been sewing - alot of sewing - getting ready for Baby Ya Ya! I am so lucky to have a wonderful Daughter-in -law that includes me in her and Josh's life. I got to make some of the bedding and then did some things that will be a surprise for them. It is only 8 weeks till our little baby arrives in this world. I am so excited to hold the precious gift. It will be so blessed with 2 wonderful parents and alot - alot of family! The room is ready and now we are just waiting. Erica will share the room with everyone this week. The family is giving her a baby shower on Saturday and all the women in both families will be there! This is the first baby in both families. How spoiled will this child be? After the sewing marathon I decided to clean up a bit today and rearrange some things. I love my sewing room - I can escape all the world throws at me there. Its a wonderful place to create....

Hurray for the RED, WHITE & BLUE......

A few flags I've made myself just like Betsy!

I have looked forward to these next few posts for about a week now. Blog friends Kari&Kijsa have decided that we all need to have a Fabulous Flag Flying 4th! Bloggers are sharing for the next 3 days- their favorite flags!! Join the fun by going to their fabulous blog and looking at all the flags a flyin!
I have had a very long love affair with the Stars and Stripes. I guess it began when I lived in Germany for 2 years in my 20s and got very homesick to see our country and the flag flying. I remember one time in particular ,when I was at a special event and they unveiled a huge American flag. We all stood at attention almost in awe and sang the Star Spangled Banner -except as I looked around their was not a dry eye in the crowd. I realized just what this flag meant to us as Americans and how we all missed our homeland. I have never looked at a flag without remembering those goose bumps. No matter where you are in this big world their is nothing like seeing those colors of our flag. Several years ago when visiting Washington DC I visited the flag that was flown when The Star Spangled Banner was written - how tattered and old ,but it still brought such pride in my heart. Just like it did for Francis Scott Key as he wrote those famous words.

I urge you to Fly your Flags, wave them high this week because THIS is the greatest country on earth!

Blue...

My love of blue began when I lived in Germany, when I was 20 something. I fell in love with all the blue dishes and the blue and white linens. My home is full of blue plates - one just can't have too many blue plates - do you think? One of my favorite blue flowers -which is kinda hard to find is Blue Daze-thats what it is called around here anyway. Hoping your day is anything but Blue!!

Tomorrow its on to the RED,WHITE & BLUE - I can't wait.
