This weekend I watched the final story in the life of a very important American Family. I have grown up (of sorts) with the Kennedy Family. I remember watching JFK as a little girl with a daughter about my age. I dreamed what it would be like to grow up in the White House. I watched as that little girl said goodbye to her Daddy and wondered how she must feel. I was in the first grade when my teacher Mrs. Nash told us and Mr. Herring come over the loud speaker at Taylor to tell us the news that President Kennedy had been shot in Dallas. I remember like it was yesterday watching the funeral on TV with my mom and her best friend Yvonne. I guess I have always wondered what it must be like to grow up in that family. Such wonderful successes but MANY tragedies too. I had to watch, to me the final chapter in the original families life yesterday as they laid Senator Ted Kennedy to rest next to his two brothers in Arlington National cemetery. When we lived close to Washington I visited the cemetery and the grave of the Kennedys- how moving to see the eternal flame on the hill above Washington DC
No matter what they believed or what political party they represented they spent their lives and gave it for our country- that I want to say Thank you….
One thing this family lived by is this famous saying
“To much is given , much is required”.
I think they did a great job at doing just what their Mother Rose taught them. If we would all do the same what would our America be like? A better place to live, I’m sure.
